I think it is the subtle nature of the colours. Whatever it is they're cracking birds! Your Jay, like the Woodpecker...Great birds Warren! Your Jay, like the Woodpeckers, Jackdaws, and Robins are some of my favorites. There's a Green Jay found in the state of Texas similiar to your own in Britain. It doesn't come as far as Tucson, but it's electric green!!!
