Birding this afternoon was suspended! I always try and keep my afternoons free for the important things in life - birds! However, today circumstances had me running around doing more mundane stuff  :-(   Given the weather has returned to ''gloom'' mode, and boy was it gloomy today, I don't think I would have seen much.  I did see a GREY WAGTAIL on the way home from work though, feeding on the College Manure pile, always a nice bird to find.

More gloom tomorrow morning, but i'll be out and about early  :-)

You might of been right asking for some of this grotty weather a few weeks ago.
It certainly seems to be bringing in the birds here on Sheppey - yesterday we had 3 Gt. White Egrets, 15 Short-eared Owls, 1Great Grey Shrike. Merlins, Hen Harriers, Marsh Harriers, Buzzards, Snow Buntings, to name but a few. Similar today with the Shrike giving some good views at lunch-time.

Hi Warren.
Sorry that the weather wasn't on your side for a good days birding, still I wish you luck with tomorrows sightings and hopefully some good photo's too.

Dean, I always try to keep it out of my birding world :-)

Derek,
Its not the cold, grey ,damp and wet weather I enjoy, it's what it brings! How many of those species you've mentioned would have turned up without this claggy old SSE air stream :-)

I'll settle for a grebe on my patch lake!

Ken,

Looks like the Camera will stay in the bag again tomorrow, doesn't look to bright for us in the SE :-(

Actually Warren, only the Gt. White Egrets and the Shrike are the exception to a normal winter.
