Thursday 19 April 2012

Once again the weather prevented any meaningful patch visit this afternoon, with some very heavy and at times thundery showers rolling through the region, I was limited to just about an hour out, most of which was spent sheltering from the rain!

All I recorded was the pair of KESTRELS around their nest box, and two BUZZARDS, one over the Wet Woods, and one over the Greenhouse Copse. A SWALLOW flew around the Greenhouse Grounds, and a CHIFFCHAFF sang in the distance.

Whilst on my walk to work this morning a GREYLAG GOOSE was in the sheep pasture at Migrant Alley, plus a MEADOW PIPIT flew over, this may well be the last of this species until their return passage in Sept. The median last recording date for Meadow Pipit is the 17th April, and the latest date is the 23rd April, which has occurred in 3 years.

I might just get an evening visit in later, but as I write this another shower is falling, so i wont bank on it  :-(

Back to some garden bird photo's in the mean time!

No outing for me again, Warren. Shower after shower after shower, all day long.

Just catching up on your blog, Warren, great to see you got a patch tick the other day :) A Raven in inland Kent is worth a dozen on the Sussex coast!

Heavy showers all day here too. Lovely photos again. I always think Goldfinches look so exotically beautiful .

Songbird,
Looks like another week of this showery weather! I better get used to going out in the rain :-)

Rain, rain go away. Certainly curtailed your meaningful patch visit Warren but some excellent garden bird pics.

Let's hope we get a few rays of sunshine for our visits soon, although the rain can help us find some different bits occasionally :-)
