More warm sunshine and blue skies for this morning, but it could well be the last for a while!

The SE breeze was just picking up as I walked round Migrant Alley early this morning, where the only migrants seen were a flock of 13 SWALLOWS, plus 9 YELLOW WAGTAILS, 4 of which flew from the sheep pasture, then a group of 3 and 2 single birds flew over during my circuit of the paddocks.

The Greenhouse grounds and the associated copse could only muster 3 CHIFFCHAFFS and a BLACKCAP between them, no other summer species were noted today.

On my way over to the lakes, and Scrubby Woods SISKINS were heard flying over again, I wonder just how many have passed over in the last few days? Arriving at the lakes, I saw that the few MALLARDS and MOORHENS had been joined by a GREY HERON, but nothing else. A MISTLETHRUSH gave some brief song from somewhere around the lakeside edge, nice to hear  :-) while the Scrubby Woods had a couple more Blackcap, a Chiffchaff, plus most of the more scarcer woodland species, like GOLDCREST, TREECREEPER, NUTHATCH, BULLFINCH, LONG TAILED TIT and COAL TIT, I also saw 3 SONGTHRUSHES, they have been scarce here for the past week or so.

I headed back to my sky watching seat at Migrant Alley, via the Ashes Lane Fields, where I was very pleased to find a WHINCHAT sitting on the fence line of the drainage ditch, I love 'em!

I got the obligatory distant shots  :-)

I reached my seat, feeling that the morning, although not a very active one, was well worth getting out for, especially as on my sky watch I picked up a PEREGRINE (63) for the September list, as well as the many BUZZARDS, a SPARROWHAWK and a few HERRING GULLS.
