Again, very dense fog this morning.

I headed off out into the fog this morning, but it was hopeless for birding, I was back home two hours later, with very little being found and nothing to add to the November species list.

The fog persisted all morning, then, just as it looked like another day would be written off, the fog suddenly cleared; by 12:30 the sun was out and the temperature soared, so much so, I was in a tee shirt by 14:00hrs!

I walked over to the Greenhouse Grounds, where a few of the SISKIN and GOLDFINCH were still feeding in the Alders, a LESSER REDPOLL (37) was heard going overhead, as were several SKYLARKS (38) and MEADOW PIPITS. I could see across the pasture and paddocks of Migrant Alley, where the ROOKS (39) were feeding, along with 18 BLACK HEADED GULLS (40) and a flock of around 50 STARLINGS.

I sat out on my sky watching seat, warming my bones in the warm sunshine, but didn't see a thing fly over! A party of LONG TAILED TITS moved along the nearby hedgerow of the Greenhouse Grounds, this is always a good chance of getting a photo of one, which I did, I also saw the female KESTREL (41) fly onto one of the Greenhouses, she always gives me a few images when I need something for the blog!

Kestrel

I got a few Long Tailed Tit images, but I just couldn't get one the way I wanted, they dont stay still long enough!

Arriving back home I was just in time to see the SPARROWHAWK fly from the fence of my garden, empty handed, but more of surprise was seeing a CHIFFCHAFF (42) in my elder tree, I hope it keeps itself well hidden!

You lucky person, here on Sheppey I haven't been able to see across the road for the second day running, it has been truly awful, damp and cold.

Wilma,
A bit of light makes all the difference with the photographs :-)
