Rain moved into the area by 08:30hrs and set in for the rest of the day.

Very little was noted during the initial dry part of my visit, as I took some more seed to put along the boundary hedgerow at the Greenhouse Grounds, the mixed feeding flock of SISKIN, GOLDFINCH, GREENFINCH, CHAFFINCH, LESSER REDPOLL and YELLOWHAMMERS were all once again seen, as was the female KESTREL in her usual position on the Greenhouse roof. A scan across Migrant Alley proved to be birdless apart from a BUZZARD that sat on one of the fencelines.

As the rain started to fall I made my way across to the lakes, checking the Ashes lane Fields en route, where just a couple of MEADOW PIPITS were of note. The lakes didn't provided anything worth me getting wet for, just the resident MALLARDS and MOORHENS, plus a visiting GREY HERON were seen.

I had a quick look in the Scrubby Woods, where GOLDCRESTS, BULLFINCH, COAL TIT, NUTHATCH, and a couple of REDWING were seen, plus a SONGTHRUSH was singing, seemingly enjoying the now heavy rain, which had me scurrying back home, what a poor day!

At least I have a couple of images to brighten the post today, these Nuthatch photo's were taken in my garden yesterday afternoon.

Very nice Nuthatch shots, a bird that seldom crosses my path here and even less with the camera.

Lovely nuthatch images, they are great little birds to watch and hear. I am gathering wood to build an ark ...

Warren, a crap day indeed but no where near as bad as others further North are getting.

The wind is lashing rain against the window as I read and enjoy my daily visit here Warren.

Don't want to sound too gloomy, but all this is set to last for at least tomorrow up here if not elsewhere, fingers crossed it clears for Monday.
