Above: Common Darter.

Well the rain didn't last for as long as was forecasted, by mid morning it was brightening up nicely and by the time I left work it was sunny and quite warm.

The better weather didn't provide any different birds however, and my trip to the Lakes and scrub area only yielded what I could have seen in my garden, ie COAL TIT, NUTHATCH, MARSH TIT and GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER, there were also 3 GREEN WOODPECKERS on a large lawn next to the Small Holding, I don't get them in my Garden, well, just the once in 11 years :-)

The lakes had the usual, MALLARDS 18 of, and MOORHEN 6 of, it's so frustrating!!! Above me the continued passage of both SWALLOW and HOUSE MARTIN was observed, and as I walked over to Migrant Alley via the Tree Nursery more were seen going SW.

At Migrant Alley it was also the usual fare, more Swallows and House Martins, 3 SKYLARKS, 18 LINNET, 24 GOLDFINCH, 28 MEADOW PIPIT and the crowd of ROOKS and JACKDAWS, the large STARLING flock seen yesterday, had broken up into smaller flocks and they could be seen over various places, on and off my patch.

A look around the Greenhouse Complex grounds did provide me with a summer migrant, a CHIFFCHAFF, other Migrants were seen there, but they were fruit pickers having a Bar- b-que :-).

The weather is set to pick up from now, and into the weekend, so i look forward to getting out a bit more over the next few days. I did add one species to the months list today - A KESTREL (55) , seen from my house this evening.

Pics today are from my garden:

Above; one of this years young Goldfinch and below what it will look like in a few weeks time :-)

Above and Below is a GREAT TIT

Next up the BLUE TIT

Lastly a SPARROWHAWK, it alighted just two meters above my head whilst I sat taking photo's of the other birds. A comical shot I thought :-)

So many species pictures from your garden Warren Well done. here too the weather is not that good for birding. I've the feeling to be back to last year, when we were complaining about the winter weather ;-)

...glad you were able to add a Kestrel to your month's total, and you did get some lovely photos from your garden. The Sparrowhawk was probably as surprised as you were--funny angle!

You may long for a tuftie on the lakes but I long for a Nuthatch or GSW in my garden or Linnets...anywhere...sigh!

Well done on the Kestrel and the nice pics from the feeders :)

Very nice shots Warren :o) The sparrowhawk angle makes me smile, the plight of camera toters chasing birds.
