I spent some time watching the garden feeders, which were dominated by a couple of STARLING families, I took some photo's in what light there was, and managed to capture the youngsters being fed.
I also took some HOUSE SPARROW photo's, as I dont get many chances with this dwindling species.
The young of GREENFINCH, GOLDFINCH, DUNNOCK, and BLACKBIRD were also seen, but not any young tits yet. As I write the weather seems to be cheering up, if the wind drops I may try an evening walk round the fields, something nice may flyover :-)Still not able to comment on any post that i have to use a code word :-(

...nice timing catching the starlings being fed. Our House Sparrow populations are growing like crazy. They are always happy little birds, but a lot of people don't like them because they compete with bluebird nest boxes, etc. Do you know why your populations are declining?

Nice to hear Sparrows are doing well there!
Our sparrows are declining for a multitude of reasons - loss of habitat, especially nesting habitat, and the lack of insect food for their young seem to be the most likey causes.
You was lucky only getting some showers, we had them plus, between 5 and 6.30 a period of steady and quite heavy rain. Bloody stuff, who ordered that, back to mud tomorrow now.

Just finished with the prolonged downpour here :-) didn't get to go out :-(
It didn't help that whilst showing some NE management round the reserve at lunchtime that I got soaked without a coat in a heavy shower - I mean whose needed a coat for the last two months!

I dont know what is more frustrating mat....the constant strong winds or the problems with blogger at the mo! I'm still unable to comment where code is required!!!

Great shots of the Starling feeding its young. Hoping for some more fledgling shots my self today - lets hope that rain stays away. Although it is getting a bit dark already.
Nice photos Warren, you get better photos in bad light than I can!
Quite an event in my garden when the odd House Sparrow drops in...they seemed to decline so suddenly :(
