Heavy, relentless rain prevented any kind of patch visit this morning, and it was only just clearing by 3pm when I ventured out for a quick sortee around the fields and paddocks at Migrant Alley. The wind was still blowing in a wetting drizzle, but thats just whats needed to ground a migrant species of bird or two, so I was not too surprised, but none the less very pleased to find my first Autumn WHEATEAR (62), a bit of a soggy one but still a pleasure to watch :-)
Also whilst there, I noted two GREY HERONS go over, and both WILLOW WARBLER and CHIFFCHAFF were in the tall hedge that borders the Greenhouse Grounds, where two WHITETHROAT were seen. All very encouraging for tomorrows full patch visit !

Cracking photos, Warren. Wished i`d have gone out, now.
Hi Warren, Great Wheatear shots and another addition to the month list, sorry I didn't have any sightings to e-mail to you from Sissinghurst this morning :-(
