The birding here is stuck in a rut at the moment, much the same as the weather. The cold blustery wind that has blown all week felt stronger and colder today, with it came some hail and rain showers, - not a nice afternoon to be out  :-(

I persevered with my visits to the Lakes this afternoon, hoping for a different duck species to drop in, but the wait will have to go on, as only 3 pairs of MALLARD, 2 pairs of MOORHEN and the COOT pair were seen there this afternoon.

I moved on to the shelter of the Wet Woods, where 3 more pairs of Mallard were dabbling about on the pools, as I stood and stared into the dense tangle of branches and twigs the movement of GOLDCREST and TREECREEPER caught my eye, there were at least 3 possibly 5 of the former and 2 of the latter. Up above on an Alder tree half a dozen SISKIN were feeding.

Feeling braver, I faced the cold wind and icy rain for a walk over to the Tree Nursery and Pub Field, on the way a SPARROWHAWK zipped past me on the wind, and one of the KESTREL pair was up hunting over the Nursery, I didn't see one yesterday, unusually. A COMMON BUZZARD was then seen flying at tree top level above the Wet Woods, but that's as good as the birding got today. I haven't added a single bird to the months list all week!

Once again my garden provides the photo's today, these are a few from yesterdays efforts :-

Tis indeed that time of year. There are 1 or 2 species I could chase down locally at weekends, but struggling to be bothered to be honest !

Your right about the weather it's certainly playing havoc with the birds, and stopping you adding any to your list still your blog is brightened up with your garden bird photo's.
