A change in the weather brought cloud and showers to the area today, when it felt much cooler than of late.
My three hour patch visit this morning was a bit disappointing on the whole, with no new migrants recorded, or any new species for the months list being found. I was hoping for a Blackcap or maybe a Willow Warbler to turn up, perhaps even a few Butterflies to photograph, but they will all have to wait!
The 2 recently arrived SWALLOWS were active over the Greenhouse Grounds, where the male KESTREL was seen again, hopefully the female is in her nestbox. The sheep pasture and paddocks of Migrant Alley were particularly baron today, not one Gull was seen out there, however, flyover LESSER BLACK BACKED GULL and HERRING GULLS were seen, plus a group of 5 GREYLAG GEESE flew over.
A BUZZARD flew from the Wet Woods as I walked through en route to the lakes, where just the MUTE SWAN pair and COOT pair were of any note. At least 4 CHIFFCHAFFS were heard singing in the adjacent scrubby Woods, along with the likes of COAL TIT, CHAFFINCH, GREENFINCH, WREN, DUNNOCK, ROBIN, MISTLETHRUSH, TREECREEPER and GOLDCREST, plus calls from GREEN and GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER, as well as NUTHATCH, JAY and STOCK DOVE made it feel a bit more springlike.
Not much to add to that really, not even got any images :-(
