Sunrise, the first glimpse of sun this early for a month!
The early sunshine lasted for just about half an hour before it clouded over, by 10:00hrs heavy rain was falling..........again!

There were a few bits of birding interest noted before the rain fell though, The WOODPIGEON passage continued, with some large flocks going south, some containing over 500 birds, BLACK HEADED and HERRING GULLS were also passing over in good numbers too, plus a single CORMORANT tagged along.
Wood Pigeons heading south early on
Woodpigeons still going over 2 hours later
Over at the lakes the MUTE SWAN pair had returned to the Ornamental lake, and the KINGFISHER put in its daily appearance, but nothing exciting on the Duck front had turned up.
Mute Swan, well, the bottom half of one  :-)
Once again a walk around the Scrubby Woods and Wet woods turned up all the regular woodland species, NUTHATCH and TREECREEPERS were seen with a large flock of LONG TAILED TITS, COAL TIT, GOLDCREST, BULLFINCH, GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER, GREEN WOODPECKER and JAYS all showed up too. A MISTLETHRUSH was again singing, but apart from BLACKBIRDS it was the only thrush species seen today.

The KESTREL pair were at their resting poles in the Greenhouse Grounds, and as I watched them I heard the raucous calls of a RING NECKED PARAKEET, I scanned the skies but it took a moment or two to come into view, a strange shape in the local sky  :-)
God knows what blogger has done to these photo's  :-(
I didn't upload them in this state!

That strange shape should be in the sky all day tomorrow Warren. Hope you are able to make the most of it.

I think they look pretty good actually. Hopefully the big orange thing will be around again tomorrow.
