It barely stopped raining all day today, so not much patch watching was done, I did try, but in the three attempts I made to get out I got soaked :-( In the end I ran out of dry coats and hats!
I was hoping for a Swallow to have been forced down low by the heavy rain over the sheep pasture and paddocks of Migrant Alley, but all I saw were a few HERRING GULLS and a GREY HERON, although I did pick up a possible Swallow way in the distance off patch, but my bins were water covered and the light was very poor, so it remained unidentified.
Nothing much else to report of any note, a BLACKCAP was in my garden, but not much else is coming to the feeders apart from an increase in CHAFFINCH'S. I had some long window watches this afternoon, hoping a Brambling might drop in with them, a bit of a long shot - but as its my birthday today something could of gone right for me!!!!
Better luck tomorrow I hope!

A belated Happy Birthday to you, not the best weather was it. Tomorrow should see you get a Swallow I reckon.
Happy birthday Warren. Hope you have "many happy migrant returns" tomorrow!!
Cheers Marc/Phil,
Weather looks to be picking up again this week, i'm looking forward to it!
First things first Warren and.... A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY....so that's why it's rained almost all day throughout the country!!
I'm hoping for a full day tomorrow, so if you keep your fingers crossed for me, I'l return the gesture to you.
Happy birthday Warren, hope this dreadful weather hasn't ruined your day too much.
Hopefully conditions are much better tomorrow for your patch walk. Also, interestingly, we also saw a big increase in chaffinch numbers in the garden today too. I wonder if that's a nationwide trend or just a weird coincidence :)
Cheers Joe,
Check them Chaffinch's, might be a Brambling among them :-)
Warren.
Many happy returns for yesterday. It is a pity nothing special turned up for you to celebrate your birthday.
I am your Swallows will be there soon.
