Another away day from my patch was had this morning, when I went to visit Oare Marshes Nature Reserve.

Despite the very dull, overcast and misty conditions, there were some nice birds about, and in good numbers. Thousands of BLACK TAILED GODWIT were seen roosting up on the floods, they were then followed out onto the estuary later, where we watched them feeding with many hundreds of REDSHANK, as well as couple of AVOCETS, half a dozen CURLEW, 7 KNOT, an OYSTERCATCHER and a RINGED PLOVER. Other waders seen around the place included LITTLE STINT, RUFF, SNIPE, GOLDEN PLOVER, DUNLIN, LAPWING and TURNSTONE.

MARSH HARRIER, KESTREL and HOBBY represented the raptors seen and it was good to get views of WATER RAIL, at least 4 were about, A couple of LITTLE GREBE were seen up close, but getting images in the very poor light proved futile!

I was back home by early afternoon, and took the opportunity to have an hour on my seat over at Migrant Alley, not a great deal was seen, but KESTREL, BUZZARD, SKYLARK, YELLOW WAGTAIL and a few flyover MEADOW PIPITS were noted as I sat in some warm sunshine  :-)

Later on I tried to get some images from my garden, but not much is visiting now that the SPARROWHAWK is about, still, I got a few images of what I could  :-)

Lovely backgrounds on those shots Warren, they stand out well and you've just reminded me that I need to paint the fence panels!

Marc,
Paint those panels a nice light green, then get some feeders in front of them!

Ahhhh....So now you've got some of the waders you wanted me to send down to you recently Warren.

Thousands of Black-tailed Godwits roosting on the floods....sounds good.
