It seem to take an age for it to get light this morning under a heavy grey sky, but at least it remained dry and windless for my 3 hour patch visit today.

I'm still on the lookout for my first Siskin of the year, but none were found today, I did however add GOOSANDER (59) to the February list when 4 (3 females, 1 male) were seen on the main lake, a pair of CANADA GEESE were also there, and the COOT was seen again on the ornamental lake. The months list creeps up the 8th place out of 14 now.

Other highlights today were seeing many hundreds of FIELDFARE and REDWING on the bean crop just off High House Lane, they were put up by a SPARROWHAWK, which also put up 24 SKYLARK, easily the most seen here for some years, 6 YELLOWHAMMERS were seen further along the lane, another good count for my patch.

The MEADOW PIPIT flock on the Ashes Lane Fields was back up to 45+ birds, there were another 60+ Fieldfare / Redwing here too.  The female KESTREL, the GREY WAGTAIL and a MISTLETHRUSH pair were of note at The Greenhouse Grounds, plus the LITTLE OWL was in the Greenhouse Copse.

A flock of 46 BLACK HEADED GULLS with four COMMON GULLS were back on the sheep pasture at Migrant Alley, until a BUZZARD flew low over !

Not a day for the camera today and the ''blog photo folder'' is running dry, here's a few of whats left........

Watched a Winterwatch last night I missed during the run - they showed a load of spruce cones in the Highland forests - probably no need for the Siskins to leave at that time, but now...

Cheers
