What a miserable day ! It didn't get any lighter from 09:00hrs onwards, Oh well, thats what you get in January. I still thought i'd have a look round the wet woods and lake area, but almost as soon as I got out the door it started to rain - that horrible mizzle, that soaks you quicker than proper rain does! Maybe I should have just done a garden feeder watch today, as I had seen the BRAMBLING at the feeders again whilst eating lunch. Anyway, whilst in the woods I was pleased to see 3 TEAL, a duck and two drakes, they were very vocal, rather than flush them out, I sneaked my round to the lake area. A GREY HERON was fishing by the edge, which was ice free now, only the middle of the lake had a thin covering. There were plenty of GOLDCREST about today, within the woods and lakeside bushes, with them were NUTHATCH'S and a couple of TREECREEPERS, BULLFINCH'S seem to be calling from every thick piece of vegetation. COAL TIT, GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKERS, and JAY, all made themselves know by there calls, but I couldn't find any new species for the year. The most likely additions being Grey Lag and Canada Goose and maybe a Cormorant.
Tomorrow morning looks very wet, with the rain clearing around mid - morning (well that's what they say!) if so, I think i'll watch the garden for the morning, and head out on my patch later, well have to wait and see.

hello Warren im sure your add to your list this weekend.Iv got68 on my patch in fiveoakgreen so far, i can only get out once aweek at the moment, you dont no this Warren but last year i was trying to keep up with you,i got 103 you just pipped me with a fantastic end,good luck for this year. no pressure ha ha.

hi Warren,i walk from my house,through Moatfarm orchards and then through some arable land normally broad beans then into a cornfield towards the whetstead gravel pits which are dotted along a gravel seam which runs parallel to the medway, so we have the pits, woods,rough and farmed land on our door step. I feel very lucky to live here.
Interesting Warren - from your list i can see that you have seen 17 species that I haven't and we are both on 63. Strange isn't it!
I agree with Warren Lee....set up a blog - free and easy! Myself, warren, Greenie, Simon, Josh, Adam, Ken, John etc etc seem to keep each other going!
I really enjoy reading and the seeing the passion in your words for the bird world. I hope you get good weather soon Warren.
