I carried out a full patch walk today, finding a rather disappointing total of 41 species, a bit of a come down after yesterdays exciting visit. I did however add two more species to the August list, with a couple of SISKIN (57) that flew over the Ashes Lane Field, plus a KINGFISHER (58) that was on the ornamental lake.
It was good to see a YELLOWHAMMER in the Pub Field hedgerow, one of the few highlights of the 5 hour walk. The Kestrels weren't seen today, but the other two regular raptor species turned out, with 2 BUZZARDS flying into the Wet Woods and a SPARROWHAWK whizzing through the Scrubby Woods, where there were again plenty of BLACKCAPS, CHIFFCHAFFS and BULLFINCH on the Elder Bushes, sadly no garden Warbler today!
Around Midday I paid a visit to Sevenoaks Wildfowl Reserve, hoping for another chance of photographing the Kingfishers there, but although I saw a couple, they gave me no opportunity to get an image of them. I filled the time I waited in the Willow Hide with a few images of bathing Canada Geese and feeding Great Crested Grebes :-)
