I fared only slightly better this morning than yesterday morning, no rain today, but fog made for a poor 3 hour visit. I did at least find a few new species for the year list, a COMMON BUZZARD (50) brought up the 50th species for 2015 as it flew over the Ashes Lane Field, putting up at least 25 MEADOW PIPITS as it went.

A GREY HERON (51) flew from the main lake as I walked around it, but no new duck species were seen on the water, the KINGFISHER was heard but not seen.

The last of todays additions to the 2015 list was a GREY WAGTAIL (52) one was seen at the Greenhouse Grounds, where the KESTREL pair sat together on the greenhouse rooves. A party of around 8 LONG TAILED TITS were also at the Greenhouse Grounds, with them were a pair of GOLDCRESTS. A LITTLE OWL was sitting at its roost in the Greenhouse Copse and 7 REDWING flew from copse leaf litter.

Out on the sheep pasture at Migrant Alley, 2 COMMON GULLS were with 67 BLACK HEADED GULLS, but little else was of note apart from a flyover YELLOWHAMMER which was heard but unseen in the foggy conditions.

So the January/years list ticks along, there are still a few regulars not seen yet, Mistlethrush and Treecreeper come to mind, but i'll need a few more to reach the best January tally of 68, which has been achieved on 3 occasions, they were in the years 2009, 2011 nad 2013.

Still a few images from my garden feeders to brighten the blog, but not many left now! Looking at the weather for the next week or so, it looks like that any more images of birds will be unlikely :-(

Persistent rain put an end to any meaningful patch visit today, I did get out for an hour around mid day, but all I got was wet! Hopefully the rain will relent for a visit tomorrow!

Frequent scans of my garden feeders didn't add any exciting species, like Brambling, Redpoll or Siskin, but plenty of the regulars were coming in, highlights being NUTHATCH, COAL TIT, SONGTHRUSH and GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER

here's a few garden HOUSE SPARROW pics, taken at the latter end of last year, an increasingly rare bird at my feeders.
