Two posts on the same day! something good must have happened!
After this mornings rainy visit, the afternoon dried out a bit, so I thought i'd take another look round Migrant alley with a friend of mine. I was pleased to find the first MEADOW PIPIT of the Autumn, two days earlier than last years arrivals. I thought I see if I could find the mornings Wheatear, I did so, and was pleased to also find a Yellow Wagtail with it, and not only that but 2 WHINCHAT were also in the same field! Great stuff I was feeling well chuffed, 3 scarce migrants in the same field, two of them new species for the months list, then another 5 Meadow Pipits flew in, all good stuff to show my birding friend. The best moment however was when I stoped to photograph a SONGTHRUSH, ''Whats that?'' said my friend looking up to the sky, then in unison we both said OSPREY! (118, 94). WOW!! What a treat! a new patch tick. This must go down as the most enjoyable 2hours spent on my patch, brilliant afternoon.

Above and below: The Osprey - I'm afraid the shots are rubbish, but I couldn't keep the camera still!

Above and Below: Whinchats, an excellent patch find in its own wright, eclipsed by the excitement of the Osprey.

Warren: It's wonderful to see the Osprey on wing. It is certainly a hard bird to capture.
