Yet another quiet morning as I walked into work. I hope this isn't going to be the norm for September! It's almost like I'm out too early, and the birds are still all roosted up!
In the afternoon, I took the same walk around the part of my patch as yesterday, the wind was blowing a gale, especially across Migrant Alley, and I couldn't hear a thing so loud was the roar. It's not surprising that the only birds I noticed were a BLUE TIT, a GREEN WOODPECKER and a KESTREL. At least 75% of birding is about what you can hear, and today was not a good listening day! It was only at the end of my walk, as I sheltered from the wind behind the greenhouses, that I could actually hear anything - a small group, maybe half a dozen, LONG TAILED TITS were feeding in a row of Alder trees, with them was a CHIFFCHAFF. Also a DUNNOCK was sheltering on the leaward side of the greenhouses.

Lastly a DUNNOCK. sensibly staying out of the wind
