Looking North from Migrant Alley, up to the high ground
My final walk into work this morning, before i'm off for two weeks, was again the best part of the day for birds. In some very warm conditions, even at 06:30, I saw my first TURTLE DOVE (62) of the month fly over Migrant Alley, east to west, then as I walked through the College Grounds, I found two SAND MARTINS (63) also a first for the month, they were  sitting on a telephone wire along with the local SWALLOWS. At least 3 SPOTTED FLYCATCHERS, were also seen at the College, also there, was a TREECREEPER and a COAL TIT.

After work this afternoon, it was hot, sunny and very humid, not really the conditions for finding birds, but the Greenhouse Grounds was still host to the families of BLACKCAP and WHITETHROAT, with the odd CHIFFCHAFF flitting about. Just one KESTREL was seen up hunting over the area, and flyovers from HERRING and LESSER BLACK BACKED GULLS were the only noteworthy patch birds from an hours skywatch.

I walked the Tree Nursery looking for Butterflies, and found the few Meadow Browns and Gatekeepers that are still around, but apart from a single Red Admiral and a Holly Blue no other flutters were seen.

Tomorrows early morning full patch walk should be interesting, will there be anything out there to see ?  Lastly, Ive added a few more species to the Pittswood bird gallery, i'm up to 'L' now  :-) the link to it can be found at the top right hand side of this page.

More garden bird pics today,  always plenty of action at my garden feeders  ;-)

Nice bluey Warren - so far this 'autumn' they've been very scarce in the garden

Cheers
