Persistent rain put an end to any meaningful patch visit today, I did get out for an hour around mid day, but all I got was wet! Hopefully the rain will relent for a visit tomorrow!

Frequent scans of my garden feeders didn't add any exciting species, like Brambling, Redpoll or Siskin, but plenty of the regulars were coming in, highlights being NUTHATCH, COAL TIT, SONGTHRUSH and GREAT SPOTTED WOODPECKER

here's a few garden HOUSE SPARROW pics, taken at the latter end of last year, an increasingly rare bird at my feeders.

Great pictures of a bird whose looks are far too often ignored in my opinion. Fortunately I have a permanent flock of around 30-40 of these charming birds in my garden and can always enjoy both their looks and their jaunty ways.

Derek,
I never thought i'd miss the House Sparrows, they've always been such a common bird. They have become so rare in the general countryside around here, that whilst out the other day, I had to think twice about the bird I was hearing.....a House Sparrow!

Fortunately they're still found in good numbers around most of Sheppey but I never take them for granted, too many people do, but they're just as photogenic as most other birds.

I especially like the next to last shot. Handsome birds when you take the time to look at them.
