A new week, and another quick trip for an hour or so around the woods, lake area, and tree nursery. A little way after leaving the house the months first SKYLARK flew over. Skylarks are fast diminishing on my patch, in 2002 I recorded them on 86% of visits, last year it was down to 83%, not a big drop, but the flock sizes are well down, 100 birds would not be unusual, overwintering on the fields, my biggest flock this winter was a dozen or so.
On to the lake, and another first for the month, a KINGFISHER, (still yet to get a pic. of it).
Which flew over my head carrying a small fish. Also there, was the usual MALLARD, HERON, and MOORHEN.

In the waterlogged woods a couple of TEAL were still about, and more MALLARD were present. They were paired off, and looking like nesting could be on their minds.

The tree nursey was quiet, as usual! I always hope something different might drop in here...............one day!!
A view over one of the lakes/ponds,this is the one that was ruined - sorry landscaped just before xmas. There is a smaller pond, just visible behind it, and a larger one to the left. Looks Ideal doesn't it..................Until you see the sprawling great red bricked house only yards to the right (with two huge dogs running around!)
Whats in the woodpile? (see bottom of post)

Rowan trees at the nursery- scores of 'em, but not a berry on them. So no Waxwings.
could you see it ? yep a WREN!
