Redwing At Migrant Alley

A cold southerly wind blew this morning, and got it got stronger during the 3 hour visit. Yesterdays Coot had moved on, leaving the usual MALLARD, GREY HERON, MOORHEN and the less usual CORMORANT. At least 3 TEAL were in the waterlogged woods, where a couple of siskin feeding above in an alder tree, they seem to use the woods near winters end rather than the start. Of the 46 species seen, 7 were new to the month, TREECREEPER, GREY WAGTAIL, MEADOW PIPIT, KESTREL, L.B.B GULL, HERRING GULL and CORMORANT, bringing the feb total to 49, a good start to the month. At migrant alley the mixed flock of winter thrushes - at least 300 strong, were very mobile and difficult to count. They always seem to keep the same distance between each other when feeding, if one moves position, another adjusts, to keep the status.
