There was a slight frost this morning, but it was windless and sunny. Being the first full walk of the month, I did my usual census, counting all the birds seen. Over 1000 individuals of 42 species were recorded, FIELDFARE (171) were the most numerous, while singles of HERON, MARSH TIT,SPARROWHAWK,STOCK DOVE,NUTHATCH and a real treat a COOT,(63) were seen. I only see coot once or twice a year - one at a time!
A Treat For My Patch - A Coot
An Early Songster - Mistlethrush

These Crocus' were out in my garden, very early

One of the fields at migrant alley is being sprayed with cowdung, which wasn't really conducive to bird counting!
