Light rain was falling as I left for my patch walk this morning, but as it became heavier and the skies became dark and leaden, I called it a day just 2 hours into my walk, all very depressing.
There was some interest in the short visit though, a KINGFISHER was again seen on the lakes, and a BUZZARD flew into the Wet Woods. I also heard the call of a
CHIFFCHAFF (
58) coming from a large garden bordering the Tree Nursery, a good species to get for the November list, as I tracked it down a LITTLE OWL flew from the Oak tree the Chiffchaff was seen in :-)
Later in the afternoon I had a session of garden watching, and was well happy when a
BRAMBLING (
59) visited the feeders. Despite the dire light conditions I decided to go out to my shed and try for a photo of it, the Brambling returned frequently during the hour I spent in the shed, but never giving me a chance of a photo, maybe it will be around tomorrow, when the weather is meant to cheer up a bit - i hope so :-)
Here's a couple of dark and grainy efforts from my hour in the shed :-)

Great pics again Mate, Brambling and Chiffchaff are good November birds.
Grain? What grain?!! These photos look great to me Warren. Those of us who are experts in producing grainy photos would be well pleased with these ;-)
Well done on your Brambling, I'm sure it will pose for the camera before long.
I know exactly what you mean re depression when the rain drives you back home Warren.
Swap you a Brambling for a Waxwing....go on then, two Waxwing!
Pete,
Thats a good deal, I'd say waxings are worth 5 Brambling :-)
Songbird,
Looks like we might get some brighter weather tomorrow, all I need is the Brambling to return ( and of course sit where I want it too !!)
