This morning was the last of my holiday patch visits - back to work tomorrow :-(

As yesterday, it was a pretty poor effort, a stubborn fog persisted well into the day, in fact it never really lifted, this made for a very subdued patch visit  :-(  The species tally of just 36 is at least 8 below what I would expect for a January full patch walk, plus actual numbers of birds were very low, the most abundant today were the FIELDFARES, of which about 120 birds were found feeding on the sheep pasture between the Wet woods and Tree Nursery. The only other highlights concerned a LITTLE OWL that called from the Small holding again, and the sighting of both SPARROWHAWK and KESTREL up hunting. Things have got to improve with the weather at some point surely - and not just for the odd couple of days!!

It will be back to the afternoon visits for a while now, not always the most productive, but hope is on the horizon, as I have decided to stop working for a while come the end of March, my resignation was tendered at the end of last year, either a very stupid thing to do, or a very wise thing, time will tell !

Photo's today come from my garden, where I once again placed the 'Blog Log' out, the light was dire, and at an ISO of 2000, the images aren't the sharpest, but they are acceptable   :-)
I waited for an hour to get this MARSH TIT to pose on the log , just needed some light  :-)
