Today started foggy, but that soon burnt off and plenty of sunshine broke through. A two hour afternoon walk around the lake area was more of a pleasure in the warm conditions, and there was much more activity, from birds and insects. BLACKBIRDS, DUNNOCKS, SONGTHRUSH, BLACKCAP, CHIFFCHAFF and WILLOW WARBLER were all heard in the scrub along with the calls of BULLFINCH and the purring TURTLE DOVES. As usual the SPARROWHAWK was overhead as was the KESTREL, but as I watched the sky no Swifts were seen.
Half an hour on my seat at migrant alley only produced another, or the same, Sparrowhawk and ditto Kestrel, no swifts here either, or Hobby. It will be good to get out early tomorrow, I may stand a better chance of finding some of the missing regular spring migrants.

Well done with the Orange Tip - I find them to be very quick and flighty, and have never got within yards of one.
