The warm spell is still with us, and I think I'm missing out by only being able to do afternoon visits, apart from the walk in to work at 06.45. My visit today at 14.00hrs was very quiet, just BLACKCAP, WHITETHROAT, and CHIFFCHAFF were the only summer migrants to sing, although they were joined by SONGTHRUSH, BLACKBIRD, DUNNOCK, WREN and ROBIN, making it a pleasant sit in the scrubby area by the lakes.
An hot hour in the sun, skywatching at migrant alley produced a KESTREL, a HERRING GULL, 2 SKYLARKS, a PIED WAGTAIL and the usual mix of corvids. Not a very exciting afternoon, but if i'm not there, I miss anything that does turn up!!
